Why won't we change our mission statement?
Our church mission statement has stayed the same for over 10 years.
Over the years, people have asked why we haven’t updated it.
The answer is simple: because it’s in our DNA as much in 2025 as it was in 2014.

Engage Church started in a living room with 8 people.
Everyone looked different from each other, came from different backgrounds, and carried widely varying perspectives.
What united us was a call on our lives that ultimately became our mission statement:
Engage people with love. We cannot fulfill the mandate of the Gospel if we do not first love those around us.
Help Memphis move forward. God called us to plant Engage Church in Memphis, a city with a deep history of division and pain. We’re committed to being part of its healing and progress.
Follow Jesus. We seek to live as Jesus did—walking in holiness, obedience, and love.
And we believe that as we do these things, we’ll change the world—one person, one neighborhood, and one city at a time.

Engage Church Service, 2014
Ten years in, our mission statement reminds us that our work is not done.
Love, faith, and action are needed now more than ever. As we look to the future, we remain steadfast in our commitment to serve, grow, and bring hope to our city.
If you’ve been part of this journey, thank you. If you’re looking for a church home where you can make a difference, we invite you to join us. Together, let’s keep living out this mission—because Memphis still needs love, the Gospel still transforms lives, and the world still needs change.
